Traditional ska/reagge bands like DEAL'S GONE BAD have had little trouble riding out the late-90's commercial ska boom - they've been performing ORIGINAL Jamaican ska since 1995 (you know, way before major labels used their money to turn the punk-ska hybrid it into a quick commercial trend). There's no doubt about it - DEAL'S GONE BAD have mastered their craft - catchy, soulful 60's ska, rock-steady, and skinhead reggae with pub-rock flair. Grinding organ, smooth horns, and melodica - it's here. Crowd pleasing covers of JUDGE DREAD ("Dread Rock"), THE SKATALITES ("Killer DIller"), Jackie Mittoo, and Keith Hudson are mixed in with 10 new moon-stomping originals. Songs are influenced by all the great original Jamaican producers - from the Studio One sound of COXSONE DODD to LEE PERRY's Upsetter '69 reggae and DUKE REID's Treasure Isle rock-steady. People get ready - the American ska scene is alive and strong - and JUMP UP is once again leading the way!
